Learn Arabic with Maha Lesson 8 - How are you

Today we are learning from the video on how to say,
How are you in Arabic. You can view the video here..


Here are some of the phrases used in the conversation:

How are you -- kaifa haaluka?

I am fine -- ana bi khair

What about you? - wa anta?

Please take note that Arabic is very gender sensitive. If you are
taking a girl, the ending ka becomes ki.. kaifa haaluki?
For the the word I, it remains the same.

so, for anta it becomes anti.

The lesson today is about color. In Arabic, color is known as 'lawn' for singular and its plural is 'alwaan'. The term plurals in Arabic means 3 or more. There is another therm for two.

Red - ahmar
blue - azraq
yellow - asfar
green - akhdhar
Black - aswad

For muslim, it is easy to remember, the black stone position at on of the corner of the kaabah is called Hajr Aswad - black stone.

white - abyadh
orange - burfoqaali
purple - banafsgu

learning arabic number can be fun.

Just to remind ourselves, the arabic pronunciation can be odd, and it is different from the way the English speaking people use to. For me, I find it easy, as I am use to reading arabic quran. In fact the letters that I know first, well before the roman ABC is the arabic alphabets.

These are the counting from 1 to 10. The numbers are used to name the days of the weeks in Malay/ Indonesian language.

6 - sitta
